Job Description



The Superintendent will assist their assigned Managing Consultant with execution of assigned tasks,
production of on time and high-quality work product, and management or coordination with other team
members as assigned or requested. The Superintendent is responsible for supporting the success of their
entire assigned practice area/practice division as the highest priority, regardless of any assigned
subpractice area focus, or specific client engagement or relationship. In any coordination or
management activities, the Superintendent will perform assigned tasks in a manner that models the
Company’s core values and inspires and encourages goal achievement through empowerment,
learning, and creativity among the team.

Tenant Improvement and Restoration

VERTEX provides complete general contracting services for tenant improvement/tenant finish projects. Our boutique Tenant Improvement Division prides itself on establishing and maintaining long-term relationships with our clients. Our team has experience ranging from office and industrial to retail and hospitality. Whether moving a single wall or performing a complete building renovation, we can deliver our projects with exceptional professionalism, cost-efficiency and integrity. This person will enjoy the challenge of working on multiple projects ranging between $25K-$5M with durations spanning one week to four months. Projects are most often commercial interior construction and include office, retail, industrial, and hospitality.

Core Responsibilities

  • Direct interaction/oversight of subcontractors
  • Ability to read blueprints and understand the order of tasks to achieve completion
  • Scheduling of subcontractors, material suppliers, inspections, etc.
  • Direct interaction with Owners and Property Managers
  • Project oversight, RFI’s, change orders, payment applications, submittal logs, etc.
  • Project closeout (punch list)
  • Make employee safety a priority both in-house and on-site, in accordance with corporate policy
  • Effective management of select assignments; meeting budget and delivery timeframes; ensuring client satisfaction.
  • Ensuring that assignments are executed with technical proficiency, accuracy, and professionalism.
  • Represent VERTEX to clients in a professional manner
  • Effectively coordinate with other team members as requested or assigned, able
    to provide guidance and monitor progress on assigned tasks or projects, and
    ensure work product produced by self or other assigned team members is
    consistently high quality
  • Meet or exceed defined individual average utilization goals as set forth by
    company leadership
  • Coordinate and support other team members as assigned in a “lead by
    example” manner, with emphasis on positivity and a culture that is empowered
    to execute
  • Travel, as necessary to support client, employee, and leadership needs.
  • Support individual and any assigned team members quality control of service
    delivery, maintaining an excellent reputation of quality
    • Provide guidance to project team members in a manner that assists with rapid
    identification and escalation to Managing Consultant of any client, team member
    or operational challenges

  • Be aware of and work in a manner that supports the organization’s vision and
    defined business objectives
  • Cooperate in construction of strong cross-functional teams (support staff
    assignments of self or assigned team members toward this end) to achieve
    success in shared goals, understanding that multiple perspectives and talents
    build stronger teams and results
  • Complete daily tasks consistent with contract requirements and proactively alert
    assigned Managing Consultant to any potential challenges or issues
  • Ensure compliance of operations with all local, state and Federal (and
    International, if applicable) regulations, as well as compliance with company
    policy

Qualifications



Position Requirements

  • Travel and/or field work (valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle required)
  • Able to communicate effectively (written and verbal) with co-workers, clients and subcontractors
  • Able to work with minimal oversight, but take direction effectively from managers
  • Able to meet deadlines, both internally and externally driven
  • Other project duties as assigned by senior staff

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Construction Management preferred

Experience

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in Construction Management
  • Proven track record of independent work product production, project
    management, communication, and coordination with other team members

Knowledge & Skills

  • Must be able to perform complex tasks and handle multiple priorities, and have the ability to perform exceptionally under high stress conditions
  • Proficient in computer operations and standard software packages
  • Effective communicator - verbal and written
  • Efficient, well-organized and positive attitude when approached with challenges and realities of construction management and consulting.
  • Job cost estimating skills are a plus
  • Experience in providing reliable work product review as assigned
  • Able to communicate effectively (written and verbal) with co-workers and
    Supervisors, and clients, subcontractors, and vendors as assigned
  • Demonstrated self-awareness and flexibility in working with a variety of
    personalities and work styles (colleagues, clients, Assigned Managing
    Consultant(s))
  • Knowledge of computer operations and standard software packages (word
    processing, spreadsheets, Adobe) required

Special

  • OSHA-10 or OSHA-30 certification preferred

Physical Requirements

  • Walk job sites during inspections, sometimes on uneven terrain
  • Carry construction tools and equipment (up to 50 pounds) onto job sites with regularity

The salary range for this role is $85,000 to $105,000 per year.
