Job Description

The Art/Clay Play Assistant will work to assist fair guests with a pottery experience that may include hand building, sculpting and/or wheel throwing. The assistant will maintain the cleanliness and organization of the ceramic studio, distribute materials and supplies, and guide participants to have fun, while encouraging and promoting success.

This position is temporary, occurring on Saturdays and Sundays, during the Los Angeles County Fair.

Principal Duties And Responsibilities

• Assists and guides participants in the pottery experience.
• Maintains a clean and organized ceramic art studio
• Creates a positive learning environment for all participants
• Maintains enthusiasm, positive attitude, patience and self-control with participants
• Responsible for daily set-up and clean-up of area
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES

• Experience as a student in ceramics art education classes a must.
• A Letter of Recommendation from an art professional/educator is strongly recommended.

Physical Requirements Of Job

• Must be able to communicate over the telephone
• Ability to walk and be on feet for several hours a day and lift up to 25 pounds
• Ability to walk up and down stairs
• Must have reliable transportation
